Al Rawsha is a well-known Lebanese restaurant at the heart of Kuala Lumpur city centre. Located at Jalan Damai, off Jalan Ampang, Al Rawsha is easily accessible if you are working or staying some where near KLCC or Jalan Ampang.

What is good in Al Rawsha? For meat lovers, I was told that the Lamb Mandy is a must try. The Lamb Mandy is served with rice and the portion is BIG. For ladies who do not eat much, it is recommended for sharing between 2 persons.

For those who is not a fan of red meat but prefers chicken instead (like me), the Chicken Mandy is recommended. I tried it and it’s awesome!

Both the Lamb Mandy and Chicken Mandy come with separate gravy in 2 separate bowls. Basically, those are the tomato chutney and yogurt, and trust me, to experience the real delicious taste of those dishes, you must have them with both gravy!

Al Rawsha is really famous for its lamb dishes actually. If you would like to try other preparation of lamb dishes, their Grilled Lamb and Lamb Chop are good as well.

The Grilled Lamb and Lamb Chop do not come with rice though. Instead, they are served with Pita Bread or the Kebab Bread. But be warned, they are both served in BIG portions.

What I love most about the food here is the preparation of rice served with their dishes. The rice tastes nice. Something like bryani rice minus the oily taste. Hehe. Yeah the rice here somehow tastes healthy. It is dry (not oily at all) and it is yummy!
Oh and let’s not forget the choice of drinks there. I love the Al Rawsha Cocktail. It is a mixture of fruits (including banana & probably mango and more fruits) with yogurt. The drink looks so colourful and pretty too. So yes, this is a must try.

Besides fruit juices and yogurt drinks, there is also ’sparkling juice’ as I like to call it. The Barbican, that’s it, a carbonated malt drinks that comes in different flavours such as strawberry, lemon, mango, etc. If you have never tried one before, make sure you try it here.

If you need direction to go there, I can give the direction here ;)… Provided that you know where KLCC is. Hehe. Yup, from KLCC (Make sure KLCC is on your right hand side and Bangunan Getah Asli is on your left hand side), just drive straight. You will pass Avenue K and Corus Hotel on your left. Go further straight until you reach the traffic lights near Ampang Park. Ampang Park will be on your left (you can see McDonalds there) while Nikko Hotel and Menara Citibank will be on your right. After the traffic light, take the 2nd turning on your left. Just go straight until the end of the road and turn right. Go further straight for about 3 - 5 minutes. Al Rawsha will be on your left. Just park at the nearest possible ‘parking’ space that you can find.
The restaurant is usually quite crowded during lunch time and VERY crowded during dinner time. Well, when a place is crowded you know that that place is good
You can choose to dine outside at the open air dining concept or indoor with air condition. There are limited space in the air conditioned room though, so preference is given to families in that room. But anyway the open air concept is indeed better and more lively if you come with groups of friends.
Enjoy your dining experience!!!

Who would have guessed that somewhere near the Curve and One Utama, there is this 1 small restaurant serving fantastically delicious baby pork ribs!

Yup, all pork meat lovers should definitely pay a visit to Ribs @ Oasis.

Just as the name suggest, the signature dish which is a must try, is the RIBS!!! The BBQ Baby Pork Ribs are so tender and juicy, definitely a must try.

The pork meat is lightly marinated with BBQ sauce and is served with baked potatoes and vege. For those who prefer a stronger BBQ taste, a separate BBQ sauce (one with more spices) accompanies your meal as well. I, however, prefer the lightly marinated BBQ sauce.

To be honest, I think so far this is the best BBQ Baby Pork Ribs that I have ever tried. I definitely love the tenderness of the meat.

For those who prefer burgers instead, the choice of burgers there are also mouth watering. If you prefer the classic burger with cheese, I can assure you that the Pork Burger with Cheese is super delicious too! The burger with mushroom seems alright as well.

The pork patte is cooked to perfection. It is difficult to describe it though. You just got to try it to experience the taste

Like any other pork-serving restaurants, beer is a must. There are several choices of beer here. I think they have Hoegarden and Heineken. Can’t remember what else though.

I prefer to have meat with red wine. However, they do not serve red wine by the glass here, only by bottle. I was informed by the waiter at that time that they only serve Merlot. Not something that I would fancy anyway. But for those who likes Merlot, rest assured because you can enjoy them here.

The selections of non-alcoholic drinks here are also good. I tried the Lime Soda. It is awesome! LOL. The taste, it’s super sour with a zesty fizzy kick!

The Ribstropic is good as well - especially for those who love sweet drinks. It’s a mixture of mango + orange juice. Very pretty looking too - definitely a chick’s drink

For those who prefer something healthy and natural, there is a selection of fresh fruits juice here as well. I tried the carrots juice. It tastes… well, healthy!
Last but not least, let’s check out the Desserts!!! A must try - Molten Chocolate Cake with Hagendaz!!! It is RM16.00. Without the Hagendaz ice cream, it is about RM10.00. It is super yummy and is really a perfect closure for any meal
For those who does not fancy chocolates, there are other choice of desserts as well. However, whatever it is, please avoid the Tiramisu. I am not sure, probably something was wrong in their mixture on that night or something, but the Tiramisu tasted weird.

Anyway, I would highly recommend Ribs @ Oasis for a super fantastic evening out with friends or your special ones. - Especially so for all pork meat lovers.
For those who does not eat meat, don’t worry. There are ample choice of seafood dishes as well. My friend said the Seafood Marinara Spaghetti is good. There are other choices of pasta as well, and you can choose the level of spiciness that you want with your pasta (for olio especially).

The services are good. The crowd is alright too. Since the restaurant is not very big, it will get very crowded around dinner time; i.e. between 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.

You can park your car right outside the restaurant. However, parking may be a bit limited when the restaurant is crowded. So it is recommended to come as early as 7.00 p.m. When the restaurant is still very empty :p

If you want to know more about Ribs @ Oasis, you can check out their website here: http://ribs-oasis.webs.com/

Map is provided in the website too!

Then you should all head to Ikano, Damansara (between the Curve and Ikea). The Japanese Crepe is to die for. Hehe.

I tried the Strawberry Cream with Vanilla ice cream. It was so fabulous I was thinking whether I should have another. ?

The name of the stall selling the Japanese Crepe is Shimino. It is an orange coloured stall near the escalator going up to the Kluang Station.

There was quite a crowd near the stall. So while waiting for my Crepe, I got the chance to watch the worker preparing it.

First, the outer cone layer will have to be prepared in advance. In a very very light amount, the flour will be poured into the pan. It only takes a few second to set it and to wait for it to cool.

Then, their special yummy looking cream will be spread on the pancake-like flour thingy. All the fillings will go in next, depending on which flavour you have ordered. I noticed that the Strawberry Cream with ice cream and the Chocolate Banana seem to be the favourite of most customers.

The pancake-flour thingy will then be folded half and rolled like a cone. The Shinomi orange coloured paper will be placed outside as a support to the Crepe. There you got it - the yummy Japanese Crepe all ready for you to savour!

I will try the mango flavour next week! ?

Who would figure that there is a nice seafood restaurant right in the heart of busy Kuala Lumpur. Stadium Negara, that is the name of the restaurant. Located at Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, just about 2 minutes drive from KLCC. To be exact, it is located very near to the building that is occupied by Old Town Kopitiam and Rasa Sayang Restaurant.

Stadium Negara Seafood Restaurant has an open air concept, where most people would be sitting outside on the open air. I noticed that they do have an air-conditioned premise if one ever choose to not sit outside at the open though. It is a halal seafood restaurant, where no pork is served.

I noticed that most of the customers there had steamboat foe dinner. My friends and I did not choose that though. We opted to order few dishes from the menu. There are a lot of varieties of food to choose from the menu. We had the assistance of the friendly uncle to choose what was recommended as ‘the best’ there. So yeah, I ordered quite a bit for just the 3 of us eating. Hehe.

I ordered chili crabs with deep fried & steamed buns, BBQ chicken, butter prawns, chili lala and kangkung fried with belacan. The food was GOOD!!! I love the kangkung fried with belacan the most and the deep fried bun! Hee… The butter prawn was good too!

I was so hungry when the food arrived that I almost forgot to take photos. Haha. So yeah, some of the photos taken were not when the food was ‘just’ served la, k. Will share some of the photos here.
The service was good too. The uncle who took our order was very helpful and friendly. The waitresses were nice, polite and very tentative too. The crowd there ranges from all sorts of races in Malaysia - Chinese, Indians and Malays, with some expats too.

Pricing wise, it was not so expensive either. It was affordable, especially taking into account the location (right at the heart of the city) and the good tasting food!
Overall, Stadium Negara Seafood Restaurant is definitely a good place to spend time for a Friday night dinner right after work when you do not want to travel some where far just to be stuck in the massive Friday night traffic. :p

Ok, here are some photos of the food that we ordered to be shared with all of you. Our bills came up to about RM176. Not bad for a good seafood dinner for 3 people :)…

I would definitely go for another visit to that restaurant again!

My favourite place to go for tea on weekdays is Peaches. Located very coveniently at Megan Avenue, behind Bank of China, Peaches is a place to go for nice home-made cakes, breads and other sweet delucacies. The raspberry cheese cake, strawberry cheese cake, mango cheese cake & chocolate eclair are my favourite there. Yes, I have a lot of favourites there! LOL… I have not taken any photos of the cakes though. Will take some and post it up one if these days

Although the bakery + cafe is quite small, but it’s actually perfect. That’s how the home-made touch is retained I guess. The owner, whom I only refer to as ‘Aunty’ is there every day without fail. She’s friendly, sweet and helpful. A nice lady indeed.

The pricing of the cakes and other food here is reasonable too. Today I decided to try Aunty’s new ‘creation’ - the Jelly Fish - that’s what she called it. Here is a photo of the Jelly Fish. It looks very much like a pretty little gold fish though! :p The taste? - Sweet! O, and it’s only RM2.00.

I had the chance to go to Sitiawan for a friends’ wedding about 2 weeks ago.

As usual, I will be busy looking for good food to eat. One of my good friends who hailed from Sitiawan recommended a couple of things to me; i.e.:

Kam Pua Mee

Loh Mee

Hot Biscuit

Red Wine Mee Sua

Since I was only in Sitiawan for 2 days, I did not have the chance to try all 4 dishes. In fact, I only had the chance to try 1 - the Red Wine Mee Sua (you can click on the photo for a bigger picture).

Yes, the chicken was soaked in Red Wine, I presume. The taste? Well, like my friend put it - “This mee has an acquired taste”. And I concur with that. Its acquired and unique taste makes it different from other types of noodle that I have tasted before. It depends very much on individual preference, I would say. But if someone were to ask me whether I like it, I would say, “unfortunately no.” It just did not conform to my taste bud, I guess.

Anyway, this is certainly something different and ought to be tried at least once in one’s lifetime!

More Hari Raya Open House

Yesterday, I visited a good friend’s open house for Hari Raya. The food was so GOOD! The Nasi Tomato, the Lemang and the Ayam Masak Merah is so delicious, I had to take a second helping of all three. Hehe…

After having such a good lunch, I decided to have a good dessert. So, yup, decided to go to Swensens at Subang Parade.

Time for Desserts!

Swensens

Swensens at Subang Parade is a good place to have dessert. Swensens, cafe & restaurant provides a lot of variety of interesting ice cream flavour and servings.

I am attaching a photo here with all the wonderful and exotic falvour of the ice creams in Swensens. [Just click on the image to enlarge it & you can see all the yummy flavours available!] You can either choose to have their ready-made ice cream from the menu or opt to have your own mix of flavour and toppings.

I chose to have Frosted Chocolate Malt as my dessert of the day. It was UBER-SWEET! Love it!

Conrad had Banana Split, one of the “All time favourite” ice cream there.

I love Swensens! Not only because of the fabulous choice of ice creams, but also because of the interior decor. It does not look so modern, but still, it has nice homely decor that makes it so cozy and nice to spend time with family and friends there.

For birthday celebrations, Swensens does provide Birthday Cakes for sale. And yes, of course, their cakes are made from ICE CREAM! For 1 kg of a cake, the cost is only RM65.00. I would say that’s worth it!

There’s a special gigantic ice cream here called “Earthquake”. It’s BIG!!! The normal price for “Earthquake” is RM4+.++. BUT, every Tuesday, there’s a 50% off for “Earthquake”. Worth it? Of course!!!

And for kids, every Sunday, Swensens has its promotional 50% off for kids!

“I doubt whether the world holds for anyone a more soul-stirring surprise than the first adventure with ice cream. ” ~Heywood Broun

Siew Pao

Now, let’s talk about Siew Pao, another delicious dessert! (Yup, I had this too later in the evening) :p

The famous Siew Pao is of course, the Seremban Siew Pao. But what if you have no time to go all the way to Seremban? And yeah, to just buy the Siew Pao? Is that worth the time and money to travel all the way to Seremban?

Well, here’s an alternative. The Esquire Kitchen Siew Pao!!!

The taste? LOVE it! The taste does resemble the famous Seremban Siew Pao. But personally, I found the Esquire Kitchen Siew Pao to taste better and more yummy!!!

It’s also bigger than the usual Seremban Siew Pao. And the price? It’s only RM1.60 per Siew Pao.

There are many outlets for Esquire Kitchen. Yup, you can click the link HERE to see which outlet is the nearest to you. Anyone can opt to go to the nearest outlet and to try this Siew Pao. The one that I went to was located at Atria Shopping Centre, Damansara Jaya.

Misc - Indomie Mee Goreng

Getting off topic for a while… Yup, enough about dessert. Let me share what do I have if I don’t go out to eat, or if I’m too lazy to even call for delivery, or when I’m not too hungry but I’m thinking that it would be good to have something nice to eat… The choice is - Indomie Mee Goreng! Hehe.

Yup, Indomie Mee Goreng is my favourite instant noodle of all time. Mee Goreng stands for fried noodle.

Besides the acquired taste, the simple reason why I like it is because it’s so easy to prepare!

I like to have my Indomie with fried egg. Yummy! Haha. A good meal to have for late night supper.

Yeah, this fried Indomie is so famous that there’s 1 mamak restaurant in Bangsar well-known of its Indomie Goreng. If I happen to pass that area, I will sure drop by that mamak restaurant for their Indomie. But I’m proud to say that my own home-cooked Indomie is far better than that, of course! Haha…

Haha…

I love the weekend… And I love it more that this is one of those long weekends. Yeah, when a public holiday falls on a day right after the weekend, that makes this weekend fabulous!

First of all, I want to wish all Hindu friends, “Happy Deepavali!“…

This weekend had been well-spent. Yesterday, I had a good rest at home, watching dvds and ordering delivery of pizzas!

Today, I went to Seremban and had a good feast of good food! Yup, the Seremban Siew Pao is not the only good local delicacy in Seremban.

Seremban has the best Southern Indian restaurant, Top Curry House.

Yup, I would say Top Curry House is certainly the best Southern Indian restaurant in Seremban! The banana leave’s rice there is just the best! Not only the food there is delicious, the service there is also one of the best. The servers there are all very friendly and nice. The fish curry there is the best, certainly! And best of all, it’s affordable and not pricey at all! *thumbs up*

Besides the curry and side dishes, I had my Banana Leave’s Rice with Fried Red Fish, Fried Chicken and Omellette. For drinks, of course Top Curry House has the famous Southern Indian drink of fruit Lassi @ Yogurt. However, knowing that I will be too full for a glass of Lassi, I only had ice lime juice with a glass of cold water. I like how the water is served in Top Curry House - using a metal glass. It just looks so refreshing and cooling.

That’s not the end of eating out in Seremban…

There are some good seafood restaurants in Seremban as well. I had the chance to go to Restaurant May Sik at Rasah Jaya, Seremban. Among others, this restaurant serves fresh seafood and local Chinese cuisine. There are some aquariums with live fish and crabs there. I love eating crab. But, still a lil bit full from lunch, I decided not to eat too much. So yeah, only the normal dishes were ordered. Even the normal dishes there tasted so delicious you would want to come back for more.

For those who loves buffalo wings, a different version are served here - the ‘Guiness’ wings. Yup, the wings are sort of marinated in ‘Guiness’. It’s a must try, I would say.

Besides all these dishes (as per photos), my dinner today also included 1 dish of mixed vegetables, pickled papaya as appetizer, bottomless chrysanthemum tea & a jug of water. All that, coupled with a bunch of good & friendly servers with efficient service was worth the time and money spent. The dinner today was prepared for 5 adults and the costs… It’s only RM84.00… Yup, surprise, surprise… In KL or in any seafood restaurants in Klang Valley, a dinner like that for 5 persons would actually costs a couple of hundred ringgit… But in Restaurant May Sik, it’s only RM84.00. If you pro rate it, it’s RM16.80 per person! For food like these, that’s cheap!

Who would have guessed that the food in Seremban is so good! Yup, I don’t have to travel all the way back to Sabah to enjoy good seafood, and I don’t have to go to one of the fine dining restaurants in KL to enjoy good Southern Indian dishes.
